The aim of the “empowering people. Award“ is to identify low-tech solutions or products making them accessible to everyone. The innovations are aimed at enabling sustainable improvement in the supply of basic needs in developing countries. Since the launch of the competition in June 2012, inventors everywhere were called upon to enter their solutions. At the close of the contest over 800 qualified entries from 90 countries had been submitted.  >
